Our standard
CarsLens aims to be useful before it is clever: answer the question clearly, show the important numbers, explain the trade-offs, and link readers to the underlying evidence.
Source hierarchy
- Government and regulatory sources such as NHTSA, EPA, DOE, FTC, and CFPB.
- Manufacturer manuals, specifications, warranty documents, and official technical information.
- Established automotive and consumer research organizations.
- High-quality secondary reporting when a primary source is not available.
Accuracy and updates
Time-sensitive figures such as APR averages, incentives, tax credits, fuel prices, and model specifications should be reviewed when the underlying data changes. The visible updated date should reflect a meaningful editorial update, not a cosmetic design change.
Corrections
If a factual error is identified, we correct the article and update its modified date when the change is substantive. Please use the contact page to flag an issue.
